Woodall’s Directory is the best known Campground Directory in North America. It offers objective campground reviews with a star system similar to that of hotel ratings. Every year it is updated to include new campgrounds and list all of the facilities offered by the campgrounds.

If you travel a lot in your RV or if you know that you will be visiting numerous campgrounds with your tent on your way to a specific park or attraction, then it can be an invaluable resource. It will give you an idea what is available on your way and what kind of services you can expect there. This way you can better plan your trip and book your sites in advance.

It also contains a whole section on one-tank trips, which I love, where you can plan a short trip from home and still visit all the local attractions along the way.

I always advise all the families travelling with kids to plan their camping trip as well in advance as possible and to make their reservations beforehand to avoid unnecessary detours and disappointments. Let’s leave the more spontaneous travel to the young, single crowd or the full-timers. We have no time to waste!
