Stay Cool in the City
We are experiencing an unusual heat wave in Toronto this summer and I wish I could escape the city and go camping. Actually we are going camping in just a few days, but in the meantime we are reaching 92 degrees...You can't really ignore global warming anymore.
But how about these who for some reason cannot escape the city, what are they to do?
If you live in a large city like Toronto or a small town like Wiarton you may find a campground just a few blocks away. Camping in the city is a great way to escape the heat without even escaping the city.
Toronto offers Glen Rouge Campground, which is accessible by public transit. It is located in Rouge Valley, which will soon become the newest addition to Canadian National Parks.
There you will be able to experience some nature without going too far and if you forget your toothpaste you can still go to a nearby store to buy one.
City campgrounds can also serve as an alternative to hotels for visitors from afar. Imagine pitching your tent and then going site-seeing for the rest of the day, or leaving your RV just to go out for a movie and dinner.
I am sure you will be able to find a nice campground in almost any city, so happy camping!
