What Are The Rules About Camping Etiquette?
When you go camping you have to remember that you will be in close proximity to other campers, so being respectful of others around you is mandatory. Don’t impinge on other people’s space.
Treat your fellow campers as you would treat yourself or a good neighbor. Most campfire etiquette is plain common sense, but many people do not follow the same thought. You want your camping experience to be enjoyable and memorable.
Be courteous to others especially if you are sharing bathroom facilities. Make sure that you don’t use all the hot water by keeping your shower time to a minimum and leave the shower stall clean.
Most campgrounds have lists of rules, and providing you abide by the rules, you can have a very pleasant stay. Don’t question whether the rules are right or wrong, just make sure that you abide by them. If they have a “no pets” rule, then they obviously don’t want them there for a good reason.
Make sure you remove all your rubbish as it could end up in streams or rivers thereby polluting them. There’s also the risk of animals coming into camp rummaging for food, which could result in a dangerous situation. It’s good camping etiquette to be mindful of the people sharing the site with you.
Show respect for your neighbors by not playing loud music, or if pets are allowed, try to keep them quiet. If you have a dog and it has a tendency to bark, then it might be best to leave it at home.
If you have a campfire make sure you put it out before you go, and clean the area for the next camper. If you treat your campsite like your home, you’ll want to leave the area neat and clean.
Think of your campsite as your home away from home. You would want your back yard kept clean and you wouldn't want someone to walk through your yard, throwing down a candy wrapper and trampling your flowers. Think of your surroundings as your backyard at home.
Camping is the greatest thing you can do as a family, so before you leave on your trip, instill in your children the need to follow rules and not make a nuisance of themselves. The whole camping experience can be ruined by someone being ignorant of what’s going on around them. Remember the rules of good camping etiquette.
Spending time in a campsite with family and friends can make for a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. These memories can last forever so make sure you have FUN!
