Green Friendly Camping

And you thought that camping was already green, right?

As it turns out many parks are working towards “Green Friendly” designation, which will be listed in the new Woodalls listing. Get the current edition of Woodall’s North American Directory for half off!

But what can WE, the campers, do to help the environment?
Besides following “Leave no Trace Principles” we can also do some other common sense things, that we often do at home already, such as:

1. Limiting the garbage to minimum and recycling

2. Conserving use of water and electricity at the park. As it is often included in the fee, tendency is towards using as much as possible instead of minimum. Do not leave tap water on in the public washrooms, take short showers.

3. Respect wildlife and other campers.

4. Use non-toxic holding tank products, such as natural enzymes, and use green all purpose cleaners.

So on this year's Earth Day think about more ways to lessen the environmental impact of your activities, both at home and on your camping trip. To get inspired watch this wonderful movie "Home".
