Keeping the Kids Occupied on Your Next Camping Trip

Kids get bored easily and camping trips can be grounds for boredom if your kids are used to the many technological advances that they have grown accustomed to. This means that you have a job ahead of you. You want to be able to keep the kids occupied, but at the same time you want to interest them in the camping trip rather than bring all the conveniences of home with you.

Here are some ways you can keep the kids occupied on your next camping trip:

• Come up with some games that they can play. Play something such as Bingo, sing camp songs, tell ghost stories, play “I Spy” when you go hiking, and bring along a board game that the entire family can play.

• Let them take pictures by giving them their very own disposable cameras. Let them take pictures of nature and get them developed after you get home. The kids will enjoy looking at the great pictures they took.

• Fishing and swimming are great activities. They can take up an entire day if you want them to and the kids will have fun. Bring floats and other fun water items so that the kids can play in the water.

• Let your kids help you pitch the tent. They feel more important when they are able to help with such an important task.

• Go hiking, but don’t go far. There are plenty of trails and you don’t have to go that far to have a great time.

• Do shadow puppets on the tent wall. You can have your own puppet show and simply have a lot of fun.

As you can see, you don’t have to have the video game systems or the portable DVD players. This is a great time for the entire family to enjoy each others company.

Keeping The Kids Occupied

Consider having your kids bring a couple of friends. They will remain busy and active and more likely to view camping as a positive experince.
