Best Tips for Camping with Kids

Whether your next camping trip is one for adults or you are bringing the kids along, there are some tips that you need to know so that you can make the most out of your excursion. So let’s get right to it.

Here are your tips:

1.Find the right campsite. This is what is going to make your experience everything or nothing. You need to make sure there is a water source nearby and that you are able to cook. If you’re pitching a tent, you need to start a fire so that you can eat.

2.If you need to make campground reservations, make sure you do this well in advance. This doesn’t mean a week beforehand. This means making your reservations as soon as you realize you’re going camping, sometimes even 6 months in advance.

3.Pack everything that you need, but not things that are not necessary. Having too much means having to keep track of a lot of things. Things get lost or forgotten.

4. Plan your meals in advance. This one is probably a given because you need to know what food to pack. If you’re going to catch your food, you need to have the means ready to do that (fishing rods).

5.Be sure you travel to your camping destination well before sunset. This is so you can pitch your tent and have yourself organized before dark. Trying to set up camp in the dark can be rather miserable.

6.When at the campground, don’t leave the door of your tent open all of the time. This is a great way for critters to get in and make your trip miserable.

7.If the kids are coming along, consider a separate tent for them if they’re older. Older kids like their space, just as adults like their space as well.

8.Give everyone their own backpack/fanny pack/bag of gear. This allows for lighter loads and faster transport of items. It also encourages kids to be responsible for their own things.

9.Make sure you are prepared for rain with tent covers, rain jackets, goulashes, and anything else you need to stay dry.

So take these tips and use them. You’ll find that your camping trip will be much more pleasant. The idea is to relax and enjoy nature, not to curse nature.
