Cool Camping Gadgets

Are you a gadget guy or gal? Myself, I am always on the lookout for some new and cool stuff. Even if I don’t buy it all, it is good to keep up with what is new out there.

Something for sports’ enthusiasts and ordinary campers alike:

1. If you are into outdoor sports like kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking and you would like to have your experiences videotaped you need a new GoPro HD Helmet HERO High-Definition Waterproof Digital Camera + SD 8GB Memory Card kit. This extraordinary waterproof camera attaches to your helmet and is capable of recording all your experiences in HD. Watch the video and see the amaizing stability of the picture and superb sound quality.

2. If you are into canoeing but do not have room to store a whole canoe then perhaps you could try SOAR inflatable canoe. It is very durable, bounces off hard rocks and comes recommended by a canoe magazine CanoeRoots. You can buy them at canoe/kayak stores or order directly from SOAR Inflatables.

3. We all use flashlights while camping, but to go the next level and have a hand free experience you really need a headlamp. Petzl E49P TacTikka Plus 4-LED Headlamp, Black is lightweight and offers 3 level light. Great for setting up camp, hiking or even reading. Red filter offers improved night vision.

4. For barefoot walking and running (and other sports, like hiking) Vibram Five Fingers KSO is the best choice. Well, this may not totally qualify as barefoot, but it gets very close to the barefoot experience. As we all know, or should know, barefoot walking is good for you and your feet. After all they are stuffed in tight shoes most of the year. However, you should not try walking barefoot on the city streets or even on trails. Your feet are used to the shoes and need some protection from sharp objects, hard surfaces etc.

That is exactly what Vibram provides without restricting your foot by a hard sole. All the muscles still work as they should if you were walking barefoot. I realize that this is not for everybody, but some athletes swear by it and I can tell you that I am eager to get my hands on the pair of those.

For avid readers:

5. OK, you must know by now that I am not an enthusiast of taking any electronics into the woods, but this one must be an exception. I am talking about electronic book Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6" Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation). How cool is that. Now you do not need to drag all those books with you on your trip and you can still enjoy reading the latest novel.
