This is a very nice film narrated by a 12-year old boy, who paddled with his family through Canadian Barrenlands from Clarke River to Thelon River. Even if canoeing is not your interest you will appreciate beautiful scenery and wildlife of this northern wilderness. Kudos to the parents of the two boys for daring to take them on such a long trip in the middle of nowhere.

Parks Climate Challenge 2009: North Cascades

Parks Climate Challenge is a program organized by the National Parks Foundation in the US, where selected high school students get to spend a month at one of the national parks and learn about science and environmental effects of climate change.

Les Stroud is hosting a new reality TV show where 8 teenagers are moved to Northern Ontario bush and forced to survive on their own. With not much preparation and not much equipment or food provided, these modern teens are faced with wilderness and their instinct to survive no matter what. Can they Survive This?

The TV series is almost over on YTV (in Canada), but premieres on CN network in USA in June 2009.

As I have seen most of the episodes already, I don't want to spoil the fun for the most of you. Watch and learn. Prepare your kids to be able to find their way in the bush. It may be more important than you think.
