How to Choose a Favorite Park

My tile is misleading because it sounds as though I'll be offering pointers on how to choose a favorite park or campground, and the truth is---I can't choose a favorite myself!

All campers probably have a favorite park or campground.

Personally, I have several favorites. In fact, I’d be hard pressed to choose an absolute number one favorite from my list!

The difficulty in choosing a top favorite is that every park or campground is different, offering different benefits and advantages that strike my fancy.

For instance, one of my favorite parks is Joe Wheeler State Park in North Alabama.

This beautiful park offers fabulous scenery, the clean water of Wheeler Lake and close proximity to the Tennessee River.

I must admit that I’m not quite as enamored of it since I learned there are 13 foot alligators living there, but I still like it.

Another of my favorite parks is David Crockett State Park in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. This, too, is a very beautiful park. It’s smallish, but has much to offer in the way of nature trails and woods that abound with deer. Also a gorgeous, huge man-made lake and a crystal clear creek with tumbling waterfalls.

Tims Ford State Park, another park in Middle Tennessee, definitely makes the short list of my all-time favorites. This wonderful park is situated around a 10,000 acre lake that has some of the best bass fishing in the state!

I could go on…..and on.

We are so fortunate to live in a land blessed with natural beauty and have access to such magnificent parks and camping areas!

I was shocked and saddened to learn that California may be closing 220 of its state parks! What a great loss that would be if it comes to pass.

I haven't found an absolute

I haven't found an absolute favorite that I would go to time after time... there are some that I fall in love with but there is still an issue that makes us not return again. Our favorite mountain spot had an infestation of meat bees that made the weekend really hard. So as much as we love that spot we decided its not for us. Then there is a great beach spot that we would go to more but there are no hookups and it makes it very hard for DH who has sleep apnea and needs a machine to sleep at night. Hookups are really important for us. But what a great place right on the beach this is. Part of the fun for us is visiting new spots.... love seeing new places and creating new memories :)
